Welcome to the IEEE UK and Ireland Power Electronics Chapter.
The Power electronics society (PELS) of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has facilitated and guided the development of power electronics technology for over 20 years. The UK and Ireland Power Electronics Chapter supports the objectives of PELS at a local level, serving the local community, industry and academia. The Chapter aims to uphold scientific and educational aspects of power electronics and its applications and advance the theory and practice of power electronics technology and the allied disciplines, to promote close cooperation and exchange of technical information among its members and affiliates and to engage the public.
Power electronics is about controlling and conditioning of electrical power by means of power semiconductor devices spanning practically all application areas including Electric utilities and smartgrids, renewable energy systems, consumer electronics, automotive industry, data centres, transportation, industrial systems, lighting, computer and telecommunication equipment, space and military systems and medical devices.
