Information Theory Chapter Best Thesis Prizes Awarded

As part of the Information Theory Chapter's mission to be the professional home for UK Engineers and Scientists working in Information Theory and applications, it has introduced a series of annual thesis awards ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate.  The winner of each category receives a £200 award and a certificate. The annual awards have been recently announced.

IEEE UK & Ireland YP Postgraduate STEM Research Symposium 2018 Evening Report

The YP Postgraduate STEM Research Symposium was a single day event that gave the opportunity to early STEM researchers, especially PGRs (PhD and MPhil), to present their research, receive feedback and explore the possibilities of turning research to enterprise. The symposium was open to professionals and students and accepted submissions of posters, papers and research to enterprise pitches.

New Chair for Women in Engineering Affinity Group

We are delighted to welcome Dr Annabel Latham as the new Chair of IEEE UK and Ireland Section Women in Engineering Affinity Group. Annabel takes over from Dr Keeley Crockett who saved as Chair from 2014-2018. Dr Annabel Latham is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science in the School of Computing and Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University.

HISTELCON 2019 Website Launched

HISTELCON 2019 will be in the IEEE UK and Ireland Section, in Glasgow, Scotland on 18th and 19th September 2019. The primary theme is ‘historic computers’ with an aim to include papers on those inventions and developments which have not already been the subject of extensive historical publications, and to include the contribution special purpose processors have made to the development and use of advanced digital signal processing methods in many applications areas.
