Welcome to the IEEE UK and Ireland Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Chapter.
Electrical insulation materials need to become tougher, smarter, and more environmental friendly. Large scale renewable power generation and the constantly increasing energy consumption and energy density in our cities pose new challenges for insulation materials, regardless if it’s in high voltage cables or the latest smartphone. Advanced materials are one of what the UK Government considers the Eight Great Technologies and materials research in the UK has a strong tradition.
The UK & Ireland Section Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) Chapter was established in 2010 to support a growing DEIS membership in the region. Current focus of the chapter is to promote early career researchers and professionals who work in the field of dielectrics and electrical insulation, by giving them opportunities to extend their network within the UK.
Chapter events include invited lectures by DEIS distinguished lecturers, networking events and technical visits. The aim is to strengthen the UK & Ireland dielectrics community, and to ensure that the UK power industry has the know-how and technical expertise necessary to tackle the challenges of the new century.
