University of Birmingham Birmingham, England United Kingdom B15 2SA Room NG15, Gisbert Kapp Building, 52 Pritchatts Road , Birmingham

Demand response is called to play an important role in smart grids to shift or reduce electricity consumption during peak demand periods. Demand response programs have mostly been oriented to large consumers, but participation of residential and commercial customers is expected to increase with the development and implementation of smart buildings. We present optimisation-based approaches to facilitate the integration of demand response in a smart grid.
