Section Seeks Volunteers to Boost Engagement in Key Roles

IEEE UK and Ireland is the largest Section in Region 8, and one of the largest Sections outside the US.  The Section is currently seeking volunteers who are keen to devote their time to ensuring that it can continue to deliver value to its members.

Assistant Secretary

Applications are invited from suitably experienced and qualified members for the role of Assistant Secretary to assist the Section Secretary in ensuring that Section secretarial duties are carried out.

The duties of the Assistant Secretary include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Section Chair and Section Secretary to ensure:
    • Minutes of Section Meetings are accurately taken and produced
    • L31 Reports are filed for the Section
  • Deputising for the Section Secretary in his absence
  • Welcoming New Members, Elevated Senior and Fellow Members
  • Organising the monthly Section Online Meetings
  • Attending IEEE UK and Ireland Section Meetings.

The Assistant Secretary role typically requires 2-3 hours a week, and at peak periods over 3 hours per week, but most importantly the role requires someone who will be accessible and available.

Chapter Co-ordinator

Applications are invited from suitably experienced and qualified members for the role of Chapter Co-ordinator to liaise and work with dormant Chapter Chairs / Affinity Groups and ensure that all chapters in the UK and Ireland Section remain active and vibrant.

The duties of the Chapter Co-ordinator include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Section Chair and Section Secretary to ensure:
    • L31 Reports are reported and filed on time by Chapter Chairs or their representatives
  • Using the L31 reports to monitor performance of Chapters, Affinity Groups and volunteers
  • Producing annual reports on performance of the Section Chapters and Affinity Groups.
  • Attending IEEE UK and Ireland Section Meetings.
