Welcome to IEEE in the UK and Ireland

Prof Mike Hinchey

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. Present and active in 160 countries and possessing expertise in virtually all areas of electro-technology from computing and communications to power, energy, medical electronics and more through 39 technical societies.

IEEE is also one of the leading global organisations in developing technology standards and publishing almost 1/3rd of global technology journals that support many industries and professions.  IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing and technology information around the globe. We believe that IEEE has much to offer students, researchers, educators, technology professionals and practitioners.

Here at the UK & Ireland Section, we have over 10,000 members and have embarked on an ambitious programme to develop new member benefits including Continuing Professional Development webinars and face to face courses.  In 2018 and 2019 we will be holding more events, lectures and conferences organised by IEEE Society Chapters, Young Professionals, Women in Engineering and Student Branches in all parts of the UK & Ireland.  There are many ways to get involved with Section activities and we actively encourage participation in all aspects of Section life.
