Four Accolades for University of Manchester PES Chapter Student Branch

The Power and Energy Society (PES) student chapter at the University of Manchester won two Darrel Chong Student Activity Awards and the PES High Performing Student Branch Chapter Award (2nd regional position across Africa, Europe, Middle East (Region8) ) at the recent IEEE Annual Award Ceremony. These awards are based on the activities delivered by 2019-2020 committee. Their hard work also helped the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Manchester  won the IEEE Exemplary Student Branch Award of 2020. The accolades are an acknowledgment of their excellent work and the enthusiasm of the committee members.

Comprised of PhD students and one academic adviser from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the student branch and PES chapter committee operates on a volunteer basis in a ‘by students for students’ manner, and organises a wide range of activities within the Department. These include annual academic symposium MEEPS professional development workshops, Women in Engineering events, technical lectures, site visits and more.

If you are looking for opportunities to volunteer on the committee, please consider applying at the next annual general meeting in February 2021. Roles and positions will be circulated nearer the time.
