Although we would like to deliver wireless broadband services everywhere, the underlying physics makes it inherently complicated. This talk will explain the fundamentals of this new technology from a signal processing perspective.

This talk will introduce the concepts of metasurfaces and the technology of metasurface-based lenses at microwave bands. It will describe the recent progress in the research and development of microwave metasurface lens antennas with designs examples.

This talk will describe some of our recent results on developing fundamentally new terahertz electronic/optoelectronic components and imaging/spectrometry architectures to mitigate performance limitations of existing terahertz systems.

This presentation will take the audience through historical achievements of resonant cavity antenna technology, giving emphasis to breakthroughs in the last 20 years up to a recent method of steering its beam continuously in 2D (i.e., azimuth and elevation).
