Every patent basically begins its life as a trade secret. Next in our series of webinars on innovation and intellectual assets, we discuss in detail the trade secret versus patent: legal aspects on the one hand, and the blockchain-based systems to support the legitimacy of the trade secret instrument, evolving legal framework and burgeoning trade secret marketplace.
When an innovation is recorded onto the blockchain, irrefutable evidence exists of the time and date the idea was conceived. The innovation marked ‘Trade Secret’ has protected status and no disclosures of its proprietary content is made without a signed NDA. The patent process is lengthy and expensive by contrast. In the blockchain-based, cryptographically hashed record, Ideation keeps a record of all NDAs and licenses in the blockchain, as well as all the innovations without compromising the technology, by using only its globally unique identifier. The methodology used is described in the webinar.
