The important and essential work of the UK Department for Transport’s Vehicle Certification Agency which helps to ensure only safe and environmentally friendly vehicles are allowed on our highways. The lecture will be cover: Who are the Vehicle Certification Agency? What is Vehicle Type Approval and why do we do it ? Who writes this stuff ? Vehicle Safety Regulations, Vehicle Emissions Regulations and the Future of Vehicles and Legislation.
Speaker: – Gareth Jones is a globally recognised expert in vehicle type approval and is currently Chief Engineer at VCA, the UK Department for Transport’s Vehicle Certification Agency. He has worked at VCA for over 15 years and has extensive experience of vehicle safety and emissions legislation.
He has specialisms in secondary safety systems and bus construction and has also been key client manager for Land Rover, Honda and Volvo Truck Corporation. He currently leads a team of 15 engineers delivering approval programmes for global automotive and component manufacturers. Gareth is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and is a key person in VCA’s Graduate Engineering Scheme and mentor to 2 young engineers.
