Standards, Their Importance and How We Ended Up With Wifi – A general-interest lecture by Adrian Stephens

Dr. Adrian Stephens is with Intel Corporation (UK) Ltd. as Senior Principal Engineer in Intel’s Next Generation & Standards group (part of the Platform Engineering Group). His job focus is on developing IEEE 802.11 standards. He is the 802.11 chair, 802.11 co-technical editor, 802.11 assigned numbers authority (ANA), 802.11REVmc technical editor and is a member of the IEEE Standards Association (SA) Review Committee (RevCom) and Audit Committee (AudCom). He coordinated Intel’s MAC proposal for IEEE 802.11n and chaired both the TGnSync and Joint Proposal teams. He has been chair of various IEEE 802.11 TGn committees and was technical editor of the IEEE 802.11n (High Throughput) amendment.

The lecture is free to attend for members and non-members of IET.

The meal in Savoy Place will be available for a group price of £16 per person including wine. Those wishing to attend are asked to send an e-mail on or before the preceding Friday, giving name(s), and requesting attendance at either the lunch and lecture or just the lecture to both tonydavies@ieee.org and johnfuller500@yahoo.com
