This is the first time that this prestigious conference has been held in the UK and the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton is proud to be hosting the event.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide a forum to exchange ideas, to discuss and influence leading educators from Europe, USA and Far East. Topics under discussion include:

  • The future of microelectronics education
  • Innovative Course Design Development
  • Innovative assessment approaches
  • Enhancing Student Experience
  • Use of multimedia in microelectronics education
  • Industry Collaboration and Technological Advances

There will be keynote speeches by internationally renowned speakers, including:

  • Ian Philips – Principal Staff Engineer, ARM UK.
  • Prof Jan Madsen – Technical University of Denmark.
  • Prof Ajay Gupta – Western Michigan University

EWME 2016 features two embedded tutorials, courtesy of event partners; Imagination Technologies and Cypress Semiconductors:

  • Teaching Computer Architecture using MIPSfpga and the Digilent Nexys 4 DDR platform with a Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA – A deep-dive half-day workshop specifically for educators and researchers at EWME 2016 based on the new “MIPSfpga” core – the RTL source code of the MIPS microAptiv for implementation on an FPGA.
  • Cypress ARM DSP Lab in a Box tutorial – The ARM® Cortex®-M4 MCU Starter Kit with Ethernet, USB and audio is a low-cost development platform for the Cypress 200MHz FM4 S6E2C-Series of ARM® Cortex MCUs. The tutorial will introduce the system and how to use it effectively.

There is also a Panel discussion: IoT impact on microelectronics education.

Please see the event web page for the opportunity to meet with leading international academics in the field of microelectronics education, to build networks and to have future business and collaboration discussions. Final registration: 28th April 2016.
