The IEEE UK and Ireland Education Society is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Rami Ghannam as Regional Chair – Scotland.
He joined the University of Glasgow in 2017 as a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Electronic and Nanoscale Engineering. He held previous appointments at Nortel Networks and IBM Research GmbH.
He received his BEng degree from King’s College, as well as his DIC and MSc degrees from Imperial College London. He subsequently obtained his PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
Rami’s research interests include evaluating pedagogical methods for enhancing student learning. Another key aspect of his work involves understanding the engineering skills shortages facing the UK and improving the quality of the engineering candidate. He is interested in the use of technology for enhancing the teaching of electronic engineering concepts and currently leads Glasgow University‘s Engineering Education Research Group.

Rami is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has achieved Senior Fellowship of Glasgow University’s Recognising Excellence in Teaching (RET) scheme.
