The IEEE United Kingdom and Ireland Blockchain Group Launch took place on Monday 24th February 2020 at London Metropolitan University and was attended by 100 delegates ranging from Blockchain professionals to those new to the subject and wanting to understand more.
The UK and Ireland Section sends its warmest congratulations to Dr Cyril Onwubiko for his appointed as an IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor (DV) for the period 2020-2022.
Cyber Science 2020 is an IEEE sponsored event, in partnership with the Dublin City University, Ireland. The event comprises four joint and co-located internationally refereed conferences, namely: Cyber Situational Awareness (CyberSA), Social Media, Cyber Security and Cyber Incident.
Cyber Science as a multidisciplinary and co-located event is gradually becoming a mainstream and notable conference, first, for its quality, second, for its uniqueness, and finally, for its structure, contributions and originality; something existing mainstream conferences do not normally possess.
The IEEE UK & Ireland Blockchain Group will be officially launched in an event in London in February 2020. The group was formed in November 2018, the first in Region 8 and since thennit has rapidly grown in numbers, with currently over 120 members. The aim of the Group is to serve members in creating a forum for professional networking, learning & development, and to educate members in the rapidly emerging Blockchain field and to organise events covering the start-of-the-art in Blockchain technology and applications.

The event comprises four joint and co-located internationally refereed and reputable conferences, namely: Cyber Situational Awareness (CyberSA), Social Media, Cyber Security and Cyber Incident. IEEE UK and Ireland Blockchain Group is a newly formed Group; the first Group in Region 8. It now has over 120 members. Applications are invited from suitably experienced and qualified UK & Ireland Blockchain members for the role of a UK & I Blockchain Group Secretary.
Following an eNotice circulated to the Section last week, the Blockchain Group already has over 100 members; that's quite astonishing. The vision of the Blockchain Group is to become the most vibrant and active chapter in our Section dedicated to serving and providing member value. Membership to the UK&I Blockchain Group is, and will remain, free.
