Section Appoints Shehan Lowe as Chapter Co-ordinator

The IEEE UK and Ireland Section is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Shehan Lowe as Chapter Co-ordinator. ¬†Shehan will work alongside the Section Executive Committee to ensure that the Section’s 35 Chapters are fully served and co-ordinated.

In 2012, Dr. Shehan Lowe commenced his career in the field of non-destructive testing by joining the Integrity Management Group of TWI Ltd, Cambridge as a Research Engineer. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2016 from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Brunel University, London.

Currently he is working as a Research Fellow at Brunel Innovation Centre, Cambridge. His research is focused on finite element methods and signal processing on Ultrasonic Guided Waves (UGW). Presently his interests are to develop UGW sensors to achieve higher flaw sensitivity, sound energy focusing and ultrasonic cleaning using high power Ultrasonics. He has published his research in over 10 national/ international journals and conferences. Since 2014, he has been serving as a reviewer for IEEE Sensor Journals, NDT&E and Insight Journal.

On his appointment Shehan commented I can’t wait to get started in this position and I look forward to making a real difference to the Section.
