Welcome to the IEEE UK and Ireland Information Theory Chapter.
Our vision is to be the professional home for UK Engineers and Scientists working in Information Theory to share ideas, knowledge and expertise in order to further UK Information Theory research to act as an enabler for UK industrial growth in the digital industry.
We seek growth through ownership of sub-tasks by members within the chapter, and engagement with other international chapters, where input and best practice will be sought. The chapter also seeks engagement in sub-chapters based upon sub-fields of information theory where each sub-chapter is assigned a designated engagement lead who will own engagement through both industry and academia.
We aim to be a truly cross-cutting chapter, creating engagement with both academic researchers but also industrial researchers who are applying information theory to application. This will create a community with a whole life cycle view of information theory, providing an opportunity for unrivalled collaborative opportunities and networking opportunities. It will provide exploitation routes for new member’s research interests and aim to uncover novel uses for unexploited technology.
The opportunity to join this community should attract key members in the this field and further afield, it is our aim that the executive committee of this chapter will come from both industry and academia, and will offer opportunities for funding research opportunities where industrial output can be observed.
